Every product on this page is printed to order in our own workshop. We do not sell surplus stock or ready-made imports: PLA+ filament goes into the machine, the model rises layer by layer, the supports come off once the print finishes, and the fit is tested against a real Clipper. How is a 3D printed lighter case made?

The process starts digitally: every character is modeled in three dimensions and hollowed out to the measurements of the Clipper body. It is then printed on the workshop machines in PLA+ filament, at 0.1–0.2 mm layer height depending on the model; a single case takes a few hours on average. Once printing ends, the support structures come off, the layer lines are inspected, and the case is fitted onto a real Clipper lighter to test the seat. Anything that fails that test never goes into a box.

Why do we use PLA+?

PLA+ is the reinforced version of standard PLA: more forgiving under impact, far less brittle and better on the surface. Because it is corn-starch based, it gives off no unpleasant odor or harmful fumes while printing. Its matte texture reads very differently from glossy cheap plastic and feels solid and warm in the hand. The breadth of color options also lets us stay faithful to a character's original palette. In short, it is the best-balanced material on both the maker's side and the user's.

What difference does layer detail make?

With flat printing or a sticker wrap, the artwork stays two-dimensional on the surface. In 3D printing the figure's nose, teeth, armor or fur are genuinely raised — you feel them under a finger. Fine layer resolution is what keeps that detail sharp: at 0.1 mm, even the eye sockets of a skull cast a clean shadow. That is why DEKOSTA cases are more impressive in the hand than in photographs, and why they hold their own as sculptural objects on a collection shelf.

Does every piece come out identical?

The model and the dimensions are the same, but each print carries its own small character: the filament batch, the print orientation and the layer transitions can create differences of fractions of a millimeter. That is the nature of small-batch making as opposed to injection-molded plastic, and we treat it as a signature rather than a flaw. Nothing that affects the body fit or the visual integrity is allowed through; prints that fail the checks are melted down for recycling.

How do quality control and shipping work?

Every case goes through three checks after printing: surface and layer inspection, the body fit test, and a final visual review. Approved pieces are packed protectively and, on weekday orders, usually handed to the courier the same day. If you find a print-related defect on the piece that reaches you, send us a photo and we will reprint it free of charge or take it back. The standard return window is 14 days from delivery.
